Being an agricultural area, horses abound in South Cotabato not only as a farm animal but as a major means of transportation in remote and mountainous terrains.
Even today, the indigenous people use horses as an integral part of their life and recreation. Due to its natural companionship with man in both work and art, the horse easily wins a special seat in history, earning high marks of honor, reverence and symbolism.

If you think that the golden stallion is just a design to our campus then you are wrong. The golden stallion is actually the symbol that will embody its ideals, NDMU took the Golden Stallion as its mascot. Gold, one of the NDMU official colors, symbolizes wealth used wisely, good health and success. Considering that the university’s vision-mission is to harmonize character, competence and culture with passion and courage, it is just fitting that the NDMU mascot is the Golden Stallion.
